meeting minutes, 1/29
February 4, 2008
(this is the information i was referring to in the last post.) hello all. we are having a bike race as a fundraiser on february 9th. meet at the space (39th & e. broad) @ 11 am to pay the $10 donation entry fee, sign the waiver, and get a number & a few other odds and ends. the co op will not be open that day unless there are people who would rather staff it than be involved with the race. if this is so, please contact us asap. just reply to this email. the race will have 7 stops, and will be approximately 15 miles long. you will be required to perform tasks at each stop, each one earning you points depending on how well you complete said task. points will also be awarded to the top ten finishers in the race. there will be a winner for points overall, the first person to get to the finish line, and a few other categories. the prizes are pretty good, and we are still working on them. afterwards, there will be a bbq at my house on 36th street. bring money so that we can make a store run for things to grill and beer to drink, if you're interested in such things. i'm assuming that will be around 2pm. i might still need people to staff two or three checkpoints. if you or a friend is interested in doing this (honestly, it's a lot of fun), then contact me at mitten@riseup.net. i’ll be holding a meeting for all of those involved this saturday evening. i also need someone to drive a truck after all the bikers go through the route to pick up staff @ checkpoints and all props. in addition, someone to take the photo finish of all those finishing the race. some bits and bobs we will need… bring them on saturday if you have ‘em: plastic cups, paper, dye, koolaid, post its, safety pins, markers, paint, pens. will and liz will make a flyer to be handed out on saturday. and to be put up by all everywhere. everywhere. everywhere. our next fundraiser will be an art auction, held the last two weeks in april at the sentient bean. be thinking of bike related art that you or friends can make to be auctioned off. we need to pay rent!! thanks y’all , see you on saturday 12 - 5pm (we will now also be open tuesday night 4 -7 pm starting next week.

December 21, 2007
ok, i guess everyone has left for the holiday b/c we had a pretty poor turnout to this particular meeting. by the way, merry december!
first up, the work day this past saturday, 12/15 was a success. thank you to everyone who came and helped out. one and a half work benches were created, donated parts were organized, & the space was cleaned up a bit. check out our rad article in the connect this week, written by robin wright gunn (thanks, robin!) @ http://www.connectsavannah.com/gyrobase/Content?oid=oid%3A5711
next clean up & build date in the space is scheduled for saturday 12/29 @ 2pm, don’t miss it!
we will be building a shelving unit, painting walls & signs, & cleaning in & around the shop. bring cleaning supplies, paint & be looking for plastic crates, and/or anything that could be used to store random, large & small, bike parts.
LOGO
yo, we need to pick a name. this meeting we were supposed to vote on one, so we did.
we came up with “the cog.”
if you all are down with that, ok. if not, email savannahcoop@gmail.com and voice your opinion. it’s possible to change it, with large public outcry.
so, now we can design a logo! and be serious about it! to go along with the non-gender, non-class based idea, we were tossing around the idea of a personified cog. or something like that. bring your logo ideas to the next meeting, 12/29 @ 2pm (e. broad & 39th) & we will vote on them. the sooner we get a logo, the better.
SOFT OPENING, 1/19
we will have a bike ride to commemorate this event, joshua will come up with the route. people will be encouraged to bring a bike tool or part to participate.
things to think about: who will be our mechanics on staff? how often will we be open?what else?
BIKE RACE
first fundraiser scheduled for february 9th, also the date of our celebratory second opening of the shop.
will combine efforts with the annual cornbread bike race. thus, be ready to party. we are still looking for awesome prizes to give out, three big ones. patrick has contacted a few people about this.
WELDING SUPPLIES
we need them to make bike stands! leon and rusty’s names were tossed out as people to ask about this. any volunteers?
PAMPHLET
melissa will make one for the soft opening. thus, we need to decide what days we will be open (saturday for 6 hours & one other day a week, tentatively), figure out our logo, etc.
ok, see y’all on the 29th. be looking for things to put bike parts in, talking to welders, & drawing up a logo.

December 4, 2007
Well, finally we have entered go time to build the space, the initial location will be the old church to the side f the garage but we might need to move at some point. the space is 25 ft by 30 ft with plenty of storage room at first, and 2 double doors. we have set DEC 15th as our building start date, this is a sat it will be a 2pm. we are looking for donations in the form of labor, wood, screws and the use of tools for the day. Any carpentry no how is greatly appreciated. A CPA and money are still badly needed so keep on trucking. This building day will a great opportunity to recruit some non traditional bike coop members. here are pictures from inside the space.
